Targets may have been set. Resolutions are good. How am I supposed to meet them when circumstances are subjected to so much changes and varying human factors? Ask me about my targets set for my current work review next year and I will tell you.
For now, I resolute to remain HOT - a Happy Ordinary Teacher (term quoted from a fun colleague at the Efest 2 weeks back... since then I have been abusing this term a lot).
Chris came up with his recipe for cultivating a successful work team.
Here's my (still Work-In-Progress) recipe to remain HOT:
- Welcome each new morning with a thankful heart - for a new day, for good sleep the previous night, for the breath of life and restored strength to do the things that need to be done.
- Accept every child for who he/she is; not who I want he/she to be. I struggle too much with my own expectations which they always seem unable to measure up.
- Seek ways to motivate my child to learn instead of hammering onto hard irons and feel defeated at the end of each school day.
- Change what I can and leave whatever circumstances that I cannot change to God.
- Foster strong relationships within the learning community by being who I am.
- Remain humble and teachable.
I think more ingredients should go into my recipe. I will add on to this list when I can still remember. Lack of sleep and the age factor has caused me to become more forgetful these days! haha!
