What does it mean to "bring out the best" in my pupils? Not demeaning them, giving them the respect they deserve, not yelling at them under the scrutiny of the public, not despising them for their academic inability. Rather, to constantly seek out their talents, their strengths, the good that is in them irregardless of how mischevious they may be.
What a high calling!
What a tough calling!
I really pledged to do this.
I believe much in the self-fulfilling prophesy that we learnt during Ed-Psyc. Our pupils measure up to what we think about them. Since the first time I stepped into my class of eight-year-olds, my expectation of them was high. They are adorable and very inquisitive. If I want to bring out the best in them, I have too stick to my original impression of them - intelligent and enthusiastic. Ultimately, if this is what I think of them, many of them should not fall short of my belief about them.
